As a child, Wendy dreamt of being a children’s book writer. Upon her retirement as an English teacher, she devoted herself to writing children’s books.
She’s written thirteen, including the exciting Zach’s Story series. Knowing that children are reading and enjoying her books is priceless to Wendy, and positive feedback to her is gold.
A University of California study found that children are exposed to 50% more words through reading than through television. Another found that reading reduces feelings of stress by 68%!
During lockdown Darling magazine, in conjunction with Wendy, held a competition for local children asking why they loved to read. Scarlet, from Balmain, summed it up perfectly when she said, “I love reading as I can travel the world through my imagination. During lockdown it was especially great to read and experience adventures beyond the walls of my house.”
